New Hire Spotlight: Xhejsa Xharda

Written by Luis Estrada

Our haku team continues to grow! We are proud to announce our third hire in the past two weeks! Welcome Customer Experience Representative, Xhejsa Xharda (prounounced Jay-sa). Born in Albania, Xhejsa moved to the U.S. in 2007, and has been in Miami about a year now. Let’s get to know more about her!

What is your role with haku?

I will be working with clients to organize events, making sure if they need marketing or technology support we're there to help them, from event registration date to event weekend.

What prompted you to move to Miami?

I really liked the beach, the weather, good music and good food.

What has been your experience like transitioning from Albania to Philadelphia and then Miami?

I spent 14 years in Philadelphia. At first, the language barrier was difficult, but being able to handle situations once I adapted was a great feeling. I think Philadelphians have a tough mentality that’s shaped me to who I am.

Miami is more diverse as you get to meet people from all over the world and I really appreciate that being from Europe myself. This is a very pretty city, very event driven and more exciting for me.

What are some of your hobbies?

I like to travel most. I define myself as someone who falls in love with places. I also appreciate anything music related, like live shows. It’s a good vibe and people can connect while putting all differences aside.

Where has been your favorite place to travel?

Greece. My parents used to work there when I was young. Most people know Santorini for the romantic feel and the escape, but for me it's sort of a happy home base.

Where do you envision your career in the next 5 years?

To be honest I want to continue exploring! I want be able to advance in my current role with haku and explore different areas to see what I’m best at or what more I can do. Outside of work, I would love to own a business on the side. I think part of being successful in business is selling a product or service you really believe in so I am still learning what that is for me.

What is next to do on your bucket list?

Learning how to drive! I would say more travel but this is a responsibility I know I just have to do. In Philly, I was able to take the subway everywhere.

What has made you feel the happiest?

Experiencing new adventures and getting out of my comfort zone.

What originally got you into technology as a career path?

In today’s world, everything is based on tech and will be even more so in the future. Everything is changing so quickly. For example as a millennial, I can see myself learning so much from what Gen Z. I keep having to keep up! Tech allows innovative career opportunities for those willing to learn. Better to stay ahead or get lost behind.

What is something you think is underrated, and overrated?

Overrated - New York City. People can be rude and the rats everywhere are enormous. Oh, and country music.

Underrated - The importance of balance in life. Work, social life, relaxation, self care. All of that blends together and it's so important.

What are some of your pet peeves?

I hate when people are loud when they eat. I think another one is following rules 100% and living by them, because that’s not always the right way to approach things. Be flexible.

We have some great nicknames and stories about them here at haku. Do you have a nickname?

Since people have such a difficult time pronouncing my name, people call me XX or just X.
