FAQs: Your Guide to Running with SDTC

Welcome to San Diego Track Club! We are excited to help you hit the pavement and reach your running goals. Below are answers to some of the most common questions runners have about joining our community.

If you have a question that isn't answered here, please reach out to our team at membership@sandiegotrackclub.org.

Q: Do I have to be a member to come try a workout?

A: You do not! We welcome non-members to join us for a workout or two to see if our club is the right fit for you. If it’s a match, and you want to join us regularly, you can sign up for an official membership on our website.

Q: What if I can’t make it to some of the workouts?

A: Not a problem. We understand that everyone has busy schedules, work commitments, and life events. We offer a variety of workout times and locations throughout the week, so you can find a session that fits your schedule.

Q: Where and when do you run?A: We have club runs every week on:
  • Tuesdays: Metro and North County Workouts
  • Thursdays: Tempo Runs (typically Mission Bay); and
  • Saturdays: Long Runs at rotating locations
Q: Where can I find the workouts?

A: Our Strava Club is the best spot to find workout details. Upcoming workouts, including dates, meeting times, locations, and a description of the workout are posted.

Q: Are there people running my pace?

A: Most likely! Whether you are a beginner interested in a run/walk program, a casual 10-minute miler, or an experienced marathoner aiming for a sub-3-hour finish, we have a pace group and workouts that will challenge you appropriately.

Q: Can I train with the group if I’m not running a race?

A: Yes! We often have a large group training specifically for the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll half or full marathon in the spring, but our summer and fall training cycles prepare runners for a variety of races—from local 5Ks to half marathons, full marathons, and beyond.
