January 2025 Workout Details

SDTC currently hosts two coached Track Workouts (Metro & North County Locations) on Tuesday evenings and a Tempo Run on Thursday evenings for SDTC members. Saturday Long Runs are open to RnR Program participants only. 

New or visiting San Diego? - You are welcome to join a workout or bring a friend to participate in our workouts. Runners who participate regularly are encouraged to become an SDTC member.

Tuesday Track Workouts


SDTC Metro

Jan 7 

  • A Group: Jog/stride 100 yards for 3 miles
  • B Group: Same as A
  • C Group: Jog/stride 100 yards for 2 miles

Jan 14

  • A Group: 8 x 400 with calisthenics
  • B Group: Same as A
  • C Group: Fitness Circuit 12 x 100 strides with calisthenics

Jan 21

  • All groups: 3-person relay

Jan 28

  • A Group: 6 x 800s with calisthenics between intervals
  • B Group: 4 x 800s with calisthenics between intervals
  • C Group: 8 x 400s with calisthenics between intervals
  • Post Track Social: Modern Times Flavordome - 3000 Upas Street, San Diego, CA 92104 (Modern Times does NOT have food! So grab food nearby and bring it to Modern Times)

Thursday Tempo Runs


Thursday Tempo Workouts are held 6PM on Thursdays at Mission Bay (typically the Runner’s Bathroom), with a once a month “field trip” to an alternate location. We have a post-run social after every Thursday workout!

Jan 2- Runner’s Bathroom Mission Bay

  • Warmup 10 mins easy on own
  • Dynamic warmup  
  • Main Set (30-45 mins)
    • 2-3X through: Alternate 10 mins @ marathon pace/effort with 5 mins @ half marathon pace/effort — continuous run 
  • Cooldown 5-10 mins easy 

Jan 9 - Runner’s Bathroom Mission Bay

  • Warmup 10 mins easy on own
  • Dynamic Warmup 
  • Main Set (30-45 mins)
    • 20-30 mins @ half marathon pace followed by 10-15 mins @ 10k pace 
  • Cooldown 5-15 mins easy 

Jan 16 - Runner’s Bathroom Mission Bay

  • Warmup 10 mins easy on own
  • Dynamic warmup
  • Main Set (40 mins)
    • 15 mins @ half marathon effort
    • 5 mins easy 
    • 10 mins @ 10K effort
    • 5 mins easy 
    • 5 mins @ 5k effort
  • Cooldown 5-10 mins easy 

Jan 23 - Runner’s Bathroom Mission Bay 

  • Warmup 10-15 mins easy on own 
  • Dynamic warmup 
  • Main Set 
    • 1 MILE ALL OUT time trial. 
    • 5 min standing rest 
    • Followed by: 4X3 mins @ 5k effort with 2 mins easy in between 
  • Cooldown easy rest of time 

Jan 30- Field Trip to Ocean Air Park - Tempo + hills

  • Warmup 10 mins easy on own 
  • Dynamic warmup
  • Main Set 
    • 2X thru:
    • 2 loops of flat loop @ half marathon effort 
    • 2 hill repeats —easy down - hard U , easy back down 
    • Run back to flat loop easy 
  • Cooldown easy

Saturday Long Runs are open to RnR Program participants only. Please register for the 2025 RnR training program to receive the weekly newsletter with workout details or join us the morning of January 4, 2025 at 7AM @ Logan Memorial Educational Campus.
