Reset and Recharge: Introducing Active Recovery Sundays
At San Diego Track Club, we know how to work hard. From our Tuesday Track Workouts to Thursday Tempo Runs and Saturday Long Runs, our members are constantly pushing their limits. But as any seasoned runner will tell you, the secret to longevity and new PRs isn’t just in the miles—it’s in the recovery.
We’re keeping things flexible in 2026 with Active Recovery Sundays—a recurring (mostly monthly!) series centered on mobility, movement, and trying new things.
Why Active Recovery?
Active recovery involves low-intensity movement that increases blood flow to tired muscles without adding the stress of a high-impact workout. It helps flush out metabolic waste, improves flexibility, and—perhaps most importantly—provides a space to connect with the SDTC community with something other than running!
2026 Active Recovery Sunday Lineup
Each month, we’re swapping the running shoes for something a little different. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming up:
February 22: SDTC PickleballJoin us for a morning of low-impact fun on the courts. It’s the perfect way to move your body and work on those lateral movements that runners don't often use.
- Date & Time: Feb 22, 10:00 AM
- Cost: $9.99
- Registration: Register via the SDTC portal.
March 8: Hike to Potato Chip Rock
We’ll be tackling the hike up to Potato Chip Rock via the Mount Woodson trail. This is the perfect "active recovery" for those looking to build some low-impact climbing strength while enjoying the fresh air with the SDTC crew. Afterward, we’ll keep the community vibes going with a casual potluck at the trailhead—bring your favorite recovery snack or a dish to share!
- Date & Time: March 8, 7:30 AM
- Cost: Free! Parking at Mt Woodson Trailhead (Lake Poway)
- Registration: RSVP on Strava
April: Yoga for Runners
We're teaming up with one of our very own SDTC members for gentle flow yoga designed specifically for runners. More details coming soon!
